Beginning Ceramics Syllabus:ClicK
Clay is one of the most versatile creative mediums available to artists.  In this class, students will learn how to work with clay as both a utilitarian and expressive medium.  Topics will include beginning wheel throwing, hand building and glaze techniques. There will be a strong emphasis on idea development and creative problem solving. 

Assignment 1:

1. Build 5 bowl forms using the pinch method.
2. Add a foot to three of them.
3. Join two of those together to make a solid form.
4. Take that solid form and create a dog or cat sculpture based on the breed of your choice.
 (bring in five images to help render your animal)

Think about what makes that breed unique and exaggerate those features.

Assignment 2:

Use the potters wheel to make six cups with handle. Three of the the six must have trimmed feet. Six are due on the due date. Make extra encase a couple break during the process.

Assignment 3: Throw bowls. Make a set of four bowls. Trim a foot. These bowls will be due during mid term critique.
